About Us

The City of Dublin Youth Service Board (CDYSB) was established in 1942 by the City of Dublin Vocational Education Committee (CDVEC) to support development of youth work in Dublin city.

The Board of CDYSB has the responsibility to make recommendations to the CDVEC on all policies, strategic priorities and grant allocations. Each Board has a five-year term of office coinciding with local elections to Dublin City Council.

The role of CDYSB is to promote, support and co-ordinate development of voluntary youth clubs, community-based youth projects and youth services in the city of Dublin.

CDYSB administers grant aid on behalf of government to some 70 youth projects throughout the city and directly grant aids more than 300 youth clubs and groups.

Services are provided to communities to develop and support youth work and educational programmes in response to the changing needs of young people in our city.

There are five projects managed by CDYSB throughout the city in partnership with local advisory committees. CDYSB is responsible for the employment, support, supervision and development of staff. CDYSB also gives reports to the advisory committee on the effective delivery of the agreed programme within the allocated programme budget.

CDYSB works in partnership with a range of public service bodies and voluntary youth organisations including Dublin City Council, Area Partnership Companies, Local Drugs Task Forces, and communities in development of youth projects and services at local level.

On policy matters, CDYSB works closely with the National Youth Work Advisory Committee, the National Drugs Strategy Team, the Young Peoples Facilities and Services Fund (National Advisory Committee) and the City Development Board.
