Voluntary groups should submit projects for consideration through a local statutory agency or a national voluntary youth organisation who are required to forward all applications received to the Youth Affairs Section of the Department of Education and Science.
The agency or organisation may submit comments on applications received to the Youth Affairs Section.
Applications for assistance for projects in the areas of young homeless, young travellers and young substance abusers should be forwarded to the Youth Affairs Section through the relevant Health Board.
Applications for assistance for projects in the area of juvenile justice/young offenders should be forwarded through the Probation and Welfare Service or Vocational Education Committees.
Applications in respect of other projects dealing with young people considered to be generally at risk should be forwarded through the relevant vocational education committee or a national voluntary youth organisation. Where a Local Voluntary Youth Council exists, this body should be consulted.
Approval and Payment of Grant
Grant applications will be forwarded by the receiving agency to the Youth Affairs Section, which will determine the eligibility of applications and the extent of grant assistance, if any, merited. Payment of the grant will normally be made through the agency to which applications were made, and may issue in instalments.
